Yesterday I spoke a little about holiday traditions. My family's holiday traditions are some of my favorite childhood memories. Every year on Christmas Eve we would throw a huge party full of family and friends. Looking back, it probably wasn't that huge, but it always felt that way. On Christmas Eve us Italians like to do something we call 'The Feast of the Seven Fishes'. We cook up delicious seafood dishes all day long and at night, we mangia. Mangia, mangia!
I have since taken over the Christmas Eve party and it's something I look forward to every year. Since we no longer live close to family, we pack the house with our friends and their children. It's always a blast and we barely make it into bed just before Santa gets there. *wink*
We can't forget about the Christmas movies either. Thank you, ABC Family for your 25 Days of Christmas! We have literally tuned in every night. As a child, our household favorites were 'A Christmas Story' (which always ran 24 hours straight on Christmas... Score!), and 'It's a Wonderful Life'. We were all about the classics. "Merry Christmas, you old, wonderful Building and Loan!" That's a quote from Its a Wonderful Life just in case you thought I had lost my mind...and I think I just showed my age there.
Traditions like that create the fondest memories. They are so important to me and such a big part of who I am. I hope that one day Gianna will incorporate some of these traditions into her family's life.
Sidenote: I'm pretty sure my hubby deserves Husband of the Year award for wearing those elf jammies. He's a trooper!
