This past weekend I styled a mermaid party for the prettiest little mermaid EVER. My daughter, Gianna, is turning 5 and she loves the Little Mermaid. I'm not one for character overload, but I was able to come up with a mermaid theme that we both loved. I wanted to bring the underwater theme to life (even though it's November and we were nowhere near the water). The sequin tablecloths really tied everything together in my opinion.
We held the party back in our hometown of Florida and my usual baker was not available. I was so fortunate to find Kelly, a local baker who completely exceeded my expectations and was surprisingly really reasonably priced. I sent her an email with a picture of the printable package and she did an amazing job matching everything perfectly. If anyone is looking for a fabulous cake at a reasonable price in the South Florida area, be sure to look up Kelly at For the Love of Cake!
I purchased the cupcakes from Publix (half of which, my wonderful husband dropped on the floor while I was setting them up). I was mortified. He, on the other hand, didn't think it was a big deal. Men...gotta love 'em! My mom made the white seashells out of white chocolate and the oyster cookies were nilla wafers stuffed with buttercream and topped with pearl sixlets. We used brown sugar to create the beachy vibe. All in all, the party was a huge success.
Happy 5th birthday to my favorite girl!!
